St8 registered in Alberta as an aggregator, not a game maker

The Isle of Man aggregator carries 19,000 games from 200 providers through one API. Registering an aggregator raises a question regulators answer differently in every market.

St8 has been registered by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis as an iGaming Services Supplier. It is an aggregator, not a studio — it carries other people's games — and that is the part of this worth thinking about.

What was announced

The Isle of Man company said on 14 July 2026 that it had secured conditional approval and then formal registration in Alberta, covering its aggregation service, bonus and promotional tools, reporting, compliance features and operational management. It gives operators access to more than 200 game providers through one API. Head of legal Eva Alšauskaite called it “another important step in St8's international growth strategy”. No registration number was published.

The question an aggregator raises

When an operator takes 19,000 games through a single integration, who is accountable for any one of them? Regulators answer this differently. Some require every underlying studio to hold its own licence in the market, with the aggregator licensed as well. Others treat the aggregator as responsible for what it distributes, and licence it alone.

The difference matters a great deal commercially. Under the first model an aggregator's catalogue shrinks at the border — only the studios licensed locally can be switched on. Under the second the catalogue travels intact. An operator that assumes the second and gets the first discovers it at launch, with a lobby a fraction of the size it planned.

So the question to ask an aggregator entering a new market is not whether it is registered, but how many of its providers are live there.

What our records show

St8 is among the more widely licensed companies in our data. We hold six entries: a UK Gambling Commission licence (067166-R-340918-001) at our highest tier, plus published-source records for Sweden (26Si120), Ontario iGO (GRSM1478934), Malta (RN/329/2024), Romania (L2234108Y001510) and the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission.

We record it live in seven markets: Ontario, Germany, the Isle of Man, Malta, Romania, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Alberta is not yet among them.

Not yet checked by us. The AGLC registration carries no number here and we have not confirmed it on a public list. It is recorded as the company's own statement.

If you are buying

Ask for the market-specific catalogue in writing before you sign. “200 providers” is the global figure; the Alberta figure is the one that determines what your players will actually see, and it will be smaller.
