Highlight Games clears Italy's collaudo, moving SOCCERBET onto its own platform

The collaudo is Italy's technical sign-off, and it is a step most suppliers never talk about. Passing it lets the studio stop renting somebody else's platform.

Highlight Games' own platform has passed ADM's collaudo in Italy. It is not a licence and it is not a marketing milestone — it is the technical inspection that decides whether a system may connect to the Italian regulator at all.

What was announced

The London studio said on 14 July 2026 that its proprietary platform had passed the collaudo process run by ADM, Italy's gambling regulator. The immediate consequence is that SOCCERBET — its virtual football product built from archive LALIGA footage — can run on Highlight's own infrastructure, with its zero-cost streaming technology, rather than through a third party's platform. Operators are expected to migrate over the following months, and an Italian retail launch is planned after the World Cup.

Chief executive Steven Holmes said passing it means “we can now deliver that content on our own platform … exactly as it was designed to be experienced”.

What the collaudo actually is

Italy does not simply licence a supplier and let it connect. Every gaming system that interacts with ADM's central control infrastructure has to pass a technical inspection — the collaudo — confirming it handles transactions, reporting and game data exactly as the specification requires. Italy runs one of the more centralised regimes in Europe: bets and outcomes are reported to the state system in near real time, and a platform that gets the interface wrong cannot operate.

It is a systems test, not a games test. Individual titles are certified separately.

The practical significance here is about ownership of the stack. A studio whose content runs on another company's certified platform pays for that and is limited by it. Passing the collaudo yourself removes both constraints — and it is a slow, technical process that rarely makes news, which is why it is a more meaningful signal than most announcements.

What our records show

We hold one licence for Highlight Games: a UK Gambling Commission licence (045885-R-324794-008), confirmed on the regulator's own register. We record it live in one market, the United Kingdom.

The studio was founded in 2014 and makes video virtual sports — betting products built from real archive footage rather than simulated graphics — for retail, online and mobile. That archive-footage approach is unusual and is why the streaming cost mentioned in the announcement is a commercial factor at all.

Not in our records. We hold no Italian licence for this company and no record of this certification. Italy is a market where we have thin supplier coverage, and this is a gap on our side.

If you are buying in Italy

Ask whose platform the content runs on and whether that platform has passed its own collaudo. A supplier with a licence but no certified platform is dependent on someone else's, and that dependency shows up as delay whenever either party changes anything.
