EveryMatrix received conditional licensing approval from Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis on 19 May 2026, two months before the province opened. The word doing the work in that sentence is conditional, and most coverage drops it.
What was announced
The platform supplier said AGLC had granted conditional approval covering its casino and sports platform technology, its in-house studio Fantasma Games, and its aggregated content. It said agreements were in place but named no operators. Rani Axon, its North America market manager, called Alberta “one of North America's most attractive regulated markets”, citing a population of roughly five million.
What conditional approval means
Regulators opening a new market face a timing problem: suppliers cannot demonstrate live operation in a market that does not exist yet, but operators cannot launch without approved suppliers. Conditional approval resolves it by clearing a supplier in principle, subject to final checks — typically system testing, local hosting or reporting integration — before it may actually transact.
For a buyer the practical difference is real. A conditionally approved supplier may not be able to take live traffic on day one, and the conditions attached are not usually published. If you are planning a launch around a supplier in a new province, the question to ask is what the remaining conditions are and when they are expected to clear — not whether the supplier is “approved”.
What our records show
We hold two licences for EveryMatrix, both confirmed by opening the issuing register ourselves: a Malta Gaming Authority B2B licence (MGA/B2B/201/2011) and a UK Gambling Commission licence (039383-R-319384-027). The MGA entry dating to 2011 makes it one of the longer-standing platform licences in our data.
We record it live in four markets — Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Peru — which is narrower than the North American footprint the announcement describes. The company says it already holds licences in Ontario, New Jersey, Michigan, West Virginia, Connecticut and Pennsylvania; those are not in our records yet, and that is a gap on our side.
What it changes
For an operator planning Alberta, a platform already carrying Ontario is the lower-risk choice, and EveryMatrix has been there since 2022. For everyone else this is a scheduling story: suppliers that clear conditional approval early are the ones in a position to sign operators before a market opens, which is when the useful agreements get made.
