BMM Testlabs accredited in Minas Gerais, its fourth Brazilian state

Brazil licenses at federal and state level, and a test lab needs both. BMM now holds federal accreditation plus four states — which is why the count keeps going up.

BMM Testlabs has been accredited as a testing and certification laboratory in Minas Gerais, Brazil's second-largest state. It is the fourth Brazilian state on its list and it sits alongside a federal accreditation — and in Brazil you genuinely need both.

What was announced

On 3 February 2026 the laboratory said the Loteria do Estado de Minas Gerais had approved it to test and certify online games, including sports betting and instant games, for the state's lottery regime. Minas Gerais has more than 21 million residents. It already held accreditation federally and in Paraná, Maranhão and Rio Grande do Norte.

Marzia Turrini, president for iGaming and cybersecurity, called it “another significant step forward in BMM Testlabs' long-term commitment to Brazil”. No accreditation number was published.

Why Brazil has two layers

Brazil's federal regime, run by the SPA within the Ministry of Finance, licenses fixed-odds betting nationally. But Brazilian states retain their own lottery powers, and several have built state-level online regimes that operate in parallel. A supplier or laboratory authorised federally is not automatically authorised in a state that runs its own scheme.

The consequence is that Brazil is not one market to certify into — it is a federal market plus a growing set of state ones, each with its own paperwork. That is the structural reason announcements like this keep appearing, and why a lab's Brazilian footprint is quoted as a list rather than a single licence.

What our records show

We hold three entries for BMM Testlabs in Brazil. Two are at our highest tier, confirmed against published federal instruments: Portaria SPA/MF nº 1.453 and Portaria SPA/MF nº 603. The third is a state-level record carrying no number. We record the company as live in Brazil.

It is an independent test laboratory founded in 1981 and based in Las Vegas, doing testing, certification, compliance, cybersecurity and market-entry work — which is a different business from the suppliers whose products it certifies, and worth keeping distinct when reading any “licensed in Brazil” claim.

Not yet checked by us. The Minas Gerais accreditation carries no published number here and we have not confirmed it on a state register. It is recorded as the company's own statement.

Why it matters to an operator

If you are certifying a product for a Brazilian state, the lab has to be accredited in that state, not merely in Brazil. Checking which states your chosen laboratory actually covers before scheduling testing avoids a delay that is entirely avoidable and extremely common.
