Bede Gaming certified to GLI-19 and GLI-33 — what those standards test

Two technical standards, audited by eCOGRA. They are not licences, and knowing the difference is the difference between a shortlist that works and one that wastes three months.

Bede Gaming has been certified to GLI-19 and GLI-33 after a multi-month audit by eCOGRA. These are standards, not licences, and the two do different jobs — a distinction worth getting right before you read any supplier's compliance page.

What was announced

The Newcastle platform provider said on 30 July 2026 that eCOGRA had tested and certified its platform against both standards. Gerrard Thompson, head of risk and compliance, said they “provide absolute clarity on the maturity of our platform, processes, and governance controls”. Aoife Nic Chuirc of eCOGRA said the company's “commitment to quality and compliance was clear from the outset”. Bede already held ISO 27001 and WLA-SCS.

What the two standards cover

GLI-19 is the interactive gaming systems standard. It covers player account management, platform security, operational controls, how games are integrated and the core technology behind a regulated online product. GLI-33 is the event wagering standard — the technical requirements for sportsbook and betting operations.

A platform running both casino and sportsbook therefore needs both to demonstrate full coverage, which is what Bede has done here.

Why this is not a licence

A licence is permission from a regulator to operate in a jurisdiction. A GLI certification is an independent test house confirming that a system meets a published technical standard. Neither substitutes for the other.

What certification does is shorten the licence process. Many regulators accept GLI-19 or GLI-33 evidence in place of running their own technical assessment, so a certified platform enters a new market faster than an uncertified one. That is the commercial value, and it is a real one — but a supplier that is certified and unlicensed still cannot supply you.

On Gamitas the two are recorded separately for exactly this reason: certifications are listed on a profile alongside licences, never merged with them.

What our records show

We hold three licence records for Bede Gaming. A UK Gambling Commission licence (033560-R-315070-012) is at our highest tier, confirmed on the regulator's own register. Ontario iGO and Malta Gaming Authority records sit at published-source tier with no numbers.

We record it live in four markets: Ontario, Malta, South Africa and the United Kingdom. It was founded in 2012 and supplies a multi-vertical platform, player account management and content aggregation across lottery, casino and bingo — which is why holding both standards rather than one is relevant to its customers.

Not yet in our records. These two certifications are not on our profile for the company. Certifications carry an expiry, so we record them with the date they were issued or we do not record them at all.

If you are shortlisting

Ask for the certificate, not the claim: GLI certifications name the tested version of the system and the date. A certificate two major releases old tells you less than one issued this year, and that detail never appears in an announcement.
