Pragmatic Play has launched Sweet Bonanza POP, a new version of one of its best-known slots built for its POP series. The release keeps the tumbling, pay-anywhere gameplay of the original and adds a refreshed look and new ways to win.

How Sweet Bonanza POP plays

The game runs on a 3x5 grid. Players win by matching 5 to 9+ symbols anywhere on the tumbling reels.

Three or more lollipop scatters or POP symbols trigger the bonus game with 10 free spins. Landing two or three scatters during the feature adds 5 to 10 more spins.

If the bonus is triggered with one, two or three POP symbols, the player also receives an instant prize of 50x, 500x or the 25,000x maximum win.

During free spins, Candy Bomb multipliers worth up to 1,000x can land. At the end of each tumbling sequence, the values of all landed multipliers are added together and applied to the total win for that spin.

Part of the POP series

Sweet Bonanza POP is the latest of Pragmatic Play's recognisable IPs to join its growing POP series, which pairs a vibrant visual style with streamlined gameplay designed to broaden the games' appeal.

“Sweet Bonanza is one of the most iconic titles in our portfolio, so bringing it into the POP universe presented an exciting opportunity to evolve a player-favourite while retaining the elements that have made it so successful.

“Sweet Bonanza POP combines the colourful personality of the POP brand with fast-paced gameplay, persistent multipliers and a trio of instant jackpots, creating a fresh take on a familiar experience.”

Gamitas view

Sweet Bonanza is a title players already know, so a new version starts with an audience that an original game has to build from scratch. Keeping the tumble-and-multiplier core and adding three instant prizes on the bonus trigger is a lower-risk way to refresh a lobby than launching new IP.

It was not the only franchise extension on 20 October. Greentube added Piggy Prizes: Ghost of Gambini to one of its strongest-performing game families, so operators planning Q4 lobbies have two new entries from proven series to consider.
